Farmers Suspend Protest upon Reaching Deal with Gov’t

AMMAN —AlGhad— The farmers in protest over the past seven days in front of Parliament have decided to suspend their stand-in after representatives of the agricultural sector met with Deputy prime Minister Dr Mamdouh Abbadi today, Wednesday, and supposedly struck a deal.

MP Khaled Hyari confirmed to AlGhad that he has also suspended his resignation from the Parliamentary Agricultural Committee of the House of Representatives accordingly, today.

The farmers have been protesting for days over the government’s decision increase taxation on the inputs and outputs of agriculture, by 10 per cent.

So far, the details of the deal have not been disclosed to the public.
