AMMAN —AlGhad— The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Endowments has prohibited Sheikh Yousef Momani, in Ajloun, north of Jordan, from speaking at any more Friday Sermons, after he went off script last Friday.

Momani told AlGhad today, Tuesday, that the memo he received from the Ministry’s branch in Ajloun, stated his speech on ‘poverty’ was “irregular”.

The Ministry justified his prohibition as such, he said, even though he has been preaching for 18 years.

The people’s concerns were always his main topics for the Sermons he gave, Momani explained for all these years.

This makes it rather unexpected that the government should prohibit him now.
