AMMAN —AlGhad— The farmers protest against the government’s decision to tax agricultural produce and input material, across the street from the House of Representatives’ building in Amman, entered its 8th straight day today, Sunday, since the stand-in was renewed last week.

The government promised to resolve the issue in a public statement by Monday last week.

Official sources confirmed that the government has agreed to retract the 10 per cent tax on produce, but farmers insist a public statement is made in order to suspend their protest.

The committee promised further escalation if the meeting with the government this Tuesday does not result in a solution, spokesperson Abdul Shakour Jamjoum told AlGhad.
