AMMAN —AlGhad— His Majesty King Abdullah II received the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Nikos Voutsis at the Husseiniya Palace in Amman today, Wednesday, to discuss furthering cooperation in the legislative and economic fields and develop stronger Greeko-Jordanian ties.

The meeting addressed aspects of economic cooperation and the advantages of trade with Jordan, given the Kingdom’s unique strategic position. In addition to the free trade zone agreements it has signed with several other trade partners.

His Majesty stressed to Mr Voutsis the importance of building on the outcomes of trilateral summit held earlier this year, between Jordan, Cyprus and Greece.

In regards to the regional situation, King Abdullah discussed the regional crisis with Mr Voutsis and highlighted the vitality of supporting the peace process in Palestine.

The King also showcased the challenges churches in occupied Jerusalem face under occupation, reaffirming the Hashemites’ indispensable role as Custodians of religious endowments there.

Peace in Palestine must be supported, in accordance to the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions, to arrive at the Two-State Solution and the establishment of the Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting was attended by numerous Jordanian and Greek ranking officials, as well as cooperation committee officials and diplomatic representatives.
