The ministry attributed the deficit to the disbursement of about 115 million in annual cash subsidies paid to citizens.

It said in its financial bulletin published today that the deficit before foreign grants amounted to about JOD52.5 million during the first month of 2018 against savings of about JOD100 million during the same period of 2017.

Local revenues for the month of January rose by JOD35 million to JOD625 million, compared to JOD590.1 million for the same period of 2017, the figures showed. The rise in domestic revenues was due to a JOD25.9 million increase in non-tax revenues and JOD9.1 million in tax revenues, the revealed.
