King Meets with Heads of Dutch Parliament

AMMAN —AlGhad— His Majesty King Abdullah II today, Wednesday, met with the heads of the States General of the Netherlands, Ankie Broekers-Knol, President of the House of Senates, and Khadija Arib, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

His Majesty lauded strong Dutch-Jordanian ties over the years, and the many common values that only reinforce cooperation towards world peace and justice.

King Abdullah also commended the Dutch prioritisation of Jordan, in regards to development cooperation, particularly in light of the regional circumstances.

Meanwhile, the King stressed that support needs to be sustainable and strategic, especially with the Syrian refugee crisis on hand.

Dutch officials expressed their appreciated of Jordan’s role, highlighting the depth of bilateral relations and underlining His Majesty’s visit as a highly significant occasion.

The meeting addressed the role of the International Community and the UNRWA in regards to the humanitarian crises worldwide, and especially Palestinian refugees.

Along these lines, His Majesty and the officials also discussed the vitality of supporting UNRWA to maintain its current level and quality of services.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the King’s Advisor, Director of His Majesty’s office, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, as well as the Jordanian Ambassador to the Netherlands.

The King also signed the Dutch Parliament’s guest log, marking the visit as yet another step forward in developing bilateral ties between the two countries.
