New Security Regulations to Prevent Bank Robberies

AMMAN —AlGhad— Minister of Interior Samir Mubaidin confirmed to AlGhad today, Wednesday, that the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) has issued a number of new regulations for banks to prevent and deter armed robberies.

This regulations include the following:

-          Connect the robbery alarm systems to the police central command and control room as well as respective precincts.

-          Connect entrance and exit cameras and surveillance to the police central command and control room.

-          Install electronic gates on entrances and exits.

-          Secure branches with security personnel during working hours.

These regulations were issued after the Jordan Commercial Bank branch in Sweileh was robbed earlier today.

Minister Mubaidin met with sector representatives, CBJ officials and police commanding officers to ratify the Central Bank’s new regulations.
