Jordan Warns of Implications of Relocating US Embassy to Jerusalem

AMMAN —AlGhad— Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi warned today, Sunday, in a joint press conference with Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Jafari, that the implications of relocating the US embassy to occupied Jerusalem will be catastrophic, reiterating Jordan’s denunciation of the American decision.

Peace cannot be attained without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, he noted. He referred to the talks held with Mr Jafari on reinvigorating the peace process and efforts to resuming negotiation.

Regarding bilateral ties, Mr Safadi highlighted that the two countries have always been and will remain partners on all regional and domestic frontiers.

In regards to the war against terror, Safadi commended the Iraqi victory as one to be rejoiced by “all Arabs,” and reaffirmed Jordan’s continued support for Iraq.

Terrorism ruins perception of Islam even though has nothing to do with it, Jafari stated.

On the, he noted that the war against terrorism is by all measures a global war, one that has been won through consolidated, cooperative effort.
