Makkah Summit Turns Out USD2.5b Worth of Aid

AMMAN —AlGhad— The Makkah quartet summit, organised by King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, turned out a combined USD2.5b package worth of support and aid to Jordan, extended jointly by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

His Majesty King Abdullah II travelled to Makkah yesterday, Sunday, to attend the emergency summit on supporting Jordan. He was received by Saudi royalty upon arrival in Jeddah, and was accompanied by Crown Prince Hussein.

The summit convened at midnight and outcomes were publicised before dawn today, Monday.

The aid package entails deposits at the Central Bank of Jordan, to support the Jordanian dinar, guarantees extended to the World Bank, annual grants to support Jordan’s budget for 5 years and Funding for developmental projects across the Kingdom.
