Nuclear Programme Costs Exceed JOD112m

AMMAN —AlGhad— The Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) confirmed in a report issued recently that the government’s overall expenditure on the nuclear programme, facilities included, has exceeded JOD112.19 million, in the years 2008 through 2017.

Annually, the government spends around JOD3.9 million on the construction and preparation of the plant facility, amounting in total to JOD39.172 million.

The remainder of the expenses are disbursed over a variety of related programmes, tasks and activities, including ore processing and system acquisitions.

According to the partnership agreement with the Russian state-owned company, signed in 2013, Jordan will own 50.1 per cent of the project.
