Domestic Seasonal Demand on Overseas Travel Down 70%

AMMAN —AlGhad— Seasonal demand on overseas travel and tourism in the upcoming Eid al Fitr vacation has dropped by nearly 70 per cent, compared to the Eid season last year, 2017, travel and tourism operators confirmed to AlGhad.

Domestic expenditure on overseas travel and tourism has declined by nearly JOD17.6 million, approximately 11 per cent, during the first two months of the year, 2018.

The Central Bank of Jordan’s monthly bulletin shows expenditure has dropped from JOD143.4 million, by end of February 2017, to JOD143.4 million, by Feb-2018.

The number one travel destination for Jordanians this year remains Turkey, followed by Sharm al Sheikh and Georgia, operators confirm.
