Gov’t Discloses 1st Weekly Oil, Fuel Pricing Information

AMMAN —AlGhad— The government has, for the first time yesterday, Tuesday, made public the overall cost structure and pricing mechanism of fuel and oil derivatives, from import to distribution.

Income from the sale of fuel and oil derivatives comprised around 13 per cent of the government’s overall revenues in 2017, at nearly JOD854 million.

Earlier, the government pledged to publish the prices of fuel and oil derivatives on a weekly basis, in a unique gesture to convey transparency.

Speaking at a joint press conference at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources yesterday, Energy Minister Eng Halah Zawati and Finance Minister Ezzaldin Kanakrieh disclosed the details of the oil supply and distribution process, in terms of costs.

According to Mr Kanakrieh, Jordan’s revenues from selling oil derivatives up until the end of April 2018 amounts to some JOD350 million.
