RAMALLAH —AlGhad— Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday arrested 17 Palestinians from various West Bank cities, as extremist settlers stormed the Aqsa Mosque campus and occupation bulldozers tore down two houses in Qalansuwa, Palestinian sources confirmed.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a statement that occupation forces raided the cities of Ramallah, Beira, Jenin, Nablus, Qalqilia and Hebron, where they arrested 17 people.

Occupation forces carry out arrest campaigns on a near daily basis, against the Palestinians in the occupied territories.

In the occupied city of Jerusalem, occupation forces made way for Jewish extremist settlers to storm the Aqsa Mosque (Haram al Sharif) compound early today, under heavy protection, through the Magharibah Gate.

Director General of the Jerusalem Awqaf Department Sheikh Azzam Khatib told Petra’s correspondent in Ramallah that the intruders carried out carried out suspicious tours of the compound, amidst protests by Muslim worshipers.

They performed their Talmudic rituals also under heavy protection in front of the Jerusalemites, provocatively chanting racist slurs and slogans.

Meanwhile in Qalansuwa, the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens said in a statement today that occupation police surrounded the western residential neighbourhood to make way for military bulldozers to demolish the two Palestinian houses.

Houses are torn down under various pretexts across the occupied 1948 territories.

Those two were demolished under the pretext they were built without a permit, the Committee said.

Last Sunday, Israeli occupation bulldozers demolished 4 Palestinian homes in al-Zuhur neighbourhood as well, in Umm al-Fahem city, inside the 1948 territories.

Occupation forces also demolished another house under construction in the Dhahrat neighbourhood, neighbouring Arara.

Those too are said to be without permit.

Since last year, the Israeli occupation authorities have demolished 11 houses and a structure in Qalanswa. Meanwhile 50 other houses in the area face similar threats, the committee warned.
