Border guards foil weapons, drugs smuggling from Syria

AMMAN - An official source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces said that two cars tried to cross the border from Syria to Jordan ,Tuesday evening, and did not comply with the warnings of the border guards.

The source added that an exchange of fire occurred when the rules of such clashes were applied, destroying one of the cars.

"The other car with 209 arm units and 10100 Captagon pills were seized and referred to the concerned authorities," the source said.

Meanwhile, a total of 684 Syrian refugees entered the Kingdom through various illegal crossing points during the past 24 hours, according to the Jordan Armed Forces.


The Directorate of Moral Guidance of the Armed Forces said in a statement on Thursday that border guards stationed along the border between Jordan and Syria received the refugees and provided emergency aid to the injured before transferring them to the Zaatari Refugee Camp. (Petra)
