Two int’l conferences on politics, Arab Spring to be held in Amman

AMMAN — The Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II School of International Studies and University of Southern Denmark are hosting two international conferences on politics and the Arab Spring in Amman between April 6 – 8, 2014.

The first conference will be on the 6th and 7th of April and is entitled Bringing People Back in Politics: the Role of Civil Society, Organizations and Political Parties in a Post-‘Arab Spring’ Context. This Conference will include leading researchers and scholars from the Middle East, Europe and Northern America brought together to discuss and debate the role of Civil Society and Organizations in the Middle East.

The second conference on 8 April is the Second Annual Young Scholars Conference where Master’s students from Europe and the Middle East have been invited to submit academic papers answering the question: Has the Arab Spring failed? - Three Years Later.  

Six students have been chosen among the submissions and will be given the opportunity to present their papers at the conference in front of leading international researchers and fellow students.

The Young Scholars Conference is part of an initiative to help strengthen the level of academic work among university students in Europe and the Middle East by establishing a forum, where university students can exchange ideas and thoughts, and where the best qualified get a chance to present their academic work.

The conferences are part of the Danish - Jordanian University Cooperation (Project DJUCO), which is funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Danish Arab Partnership Program.

Project DJUCO has had activities in Jordan for the last five years and has held a number of conferences in addition to other activities all aimed at strengthening the academic dialogue between Jordan and Denmark.
