WASHINGTON - Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde on Thursday said she appreciated the economic reforms in Jordan, which come in line with the Kingdom’s credit worthiness agreement with the Fund.

In statements to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. in Washington, Lagarde said that the Fund is committed to providing financial and technical services to Jordan to help it boost economic policies that would spur the economy and slash the payment balance deficit.

The Fund, she added, is closely monitoring the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on the Middle East in general and on Jordan in particular.

"We would shed more light on the Syrian crisis and its ramifications on the region during the conference which will be held in Amman next month," the IMF chief said. The conference will be hosted by the Jordanian government in cooperation with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. (Petra)
