756 Syrian refugees cross into Jordan in 48 hours

AMMAN - al-Ghad - A total of 756 Syrian refugees, mainly women, children and the elderly crossed into Jordan over the past 48 hours through various illegal border points, as the new Azraq refugee camp prepare to open.

Border guards stationed along the Jordanian-Syrian borders received the refugees and transferred them to shelters set up by the Armed Forces for this purpose. 

The new camp was announced earlier this month, with a capacity of up to 130,000 refugees, after the Zaatari refugee camp has reached near maximum capacity, with more than 100,000 people.

It is slated to be inaugurated on April 30, by Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Interior Minister Hussein al-Majali, government and humanitarian agencies representatives.
