Amman Chamber of Industry's exports reach 1.4 billion in first quarter of 2015

AMMAN - Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) have reached JD1.41 billion in the first quarter of 2015, compared to JD1.38 billion in the same period last year, according to a Chamber report released on Monday.

The report indicated that Arab states accounted for most of the ACI's exports, which stood at a value of JD863 million in the first four months of this year, compared to JD860 million in the same period last year.

Although the Chamber's exports to Iraq dropped in the first four months of this year, most of these exports went to the Iraqi market, recorded at a value of JD268 million, compared to JD300 million in the same period last year.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia ranked second with a value of JD173million, followed by India at JD160 million, the United States with JD129 million, and the UAE with JD102 million.

According to the report, the ACI's exports to Arab and foreign countries rose in the first four months of this year: Indonesia received exports worth JD37 million; Palestine, JD35 million; Turkey, JD31 million; and Sudan, JD23 million.

Exports from Jordan included cosmetics, chemical and manufacturing products, and medical and pharmaceutical supplies, as well as foodstuff, agricultural produce, cartons, textiles and leather, and products for the engineering and construction industries. (Petra)
