AMMAN — Water and Irrigation Ministry unravels a capital investment in the sector to cover the expected demand on water supplies for the next 10 years, estimated to cost JOD540 million annually, according to Minister Dr Hazem Nasser’s statement to “Al Ghad” noting that the projects approved on by the department for the implementation of the 2016-2025 Water Strategy should positively reflect on per capita share and access to useable water.

Pressured by the increased influx of Syrian refugees as well as environmental conditions given the scarcity of water resources in Jordan, pushed the department to develop an effective plan to help sustain water security. The projects include new irrigation, sewerage, and residential water supply networks.
