AMMAN — The Amman and Jordan chambers of Commerce and of Industry signed a memorandum  of understanding to rectify the official status of non-operating public liability and proprietorship companies in Jordan with the monitoring department and the Income and Sales Tax Department.

The memo directs the speedy and proficient processing of non-operating company records that are registered with an income and sales tax identifiers, through the establishment of a task team that is instructed to review the companies’ statuses.

Lists of non-operating companies have been submitted to the general monitoring department containing 19 thousand public liability and 45 thousand proprietorship companies that have been out of business for years or were never operational.

Accordingly, Amman Chamber of Commerce mentioned that they have a list of around 79 thousand non-operating companies, and the Chamber of Industry stated their lists include around 17 thousand industrial companies that did not renew their registration since 1994.
