AMMAN — The clothes and textiles market in Jordan is in recession currently despite sales and offers as well as advertisements made by local traders, and is thought to be due to seasonal transitions in demand between summer and winter.

Previously, the Government passed a decision to lower general sales tax on several categories of clothes, from 16 to 8 per cent, as well as the decrease of special sales taxes from 25 to 8 per cent.

Purchase patterns remain low in spite of sales in various marketplaces have exceeded 50 per cent.
