AMMAN —Local gold prices took a JOD1 dive per gram over the week as a result of the global decrease in prices by nearly USD45 recently. According to the jewellers association Secretary Ribhi Allan, this decline is a product of increased commercial activities and trade, including profits, in the aftermath of increased prices, noting that gold remains a safe resort, pointing out the price of an ounce of gold today has reached JOD1217.

Gold prices reached its lowest levels, Thursday, in the global marketplace, scoring its highest losses since November 2015, with the revitalisation of the US Dollar in global currency exchange.

Official American statements on tightened financial and economic policies and strategies in the US led the price of US Dollar to increase, as well as to oil prices dropping 4 per cent worldwide.
