JOD25 Million Designated for Infrastructural Facilitation

AMMAN — The Jordan Investment Commission approved, last Saturday, the draft to construct a new developmental area in Mafraq, managed by private sector, according to an informed official source, who preferred anonymity.

In his statement to “Al Ghad”, the official clarified that the project was proposed to the Investment Commission by land development company Thuraya, to develop a 921,000 square meter area near Zaatri, east of Thaghra in Mafraq. The infrastructural facilitation and construction project by Thuraya is valued at JOD25 million.

Moreover, there are currently 3 factories in the area. Accordingly, the development plan aims to attract investment from Turkey, Qatar, Sri Lanka, next to domestic investments, as the area will be facilitated to platform medium, artefact, and service industries, providing 1,800 job opportunities.

The commission will refer the plan to Cabinet for approval before official declaration.

Hereon, the total number of developmental areas in Jordan will increase to 8; 2 in each of Maan and Mafraq —including the new one, Irbid,, Ajloun, the Business Complex in Amman, and Dead Sea.
