MAFRAQ — Al al-Bayt University students decided to boycott university transportation buses yesterday, Sunday, leaving campus on foot all the way to the eastern terminal in Mafraq, in protest over bus drivers refusing to drop students off at main university entrances past 10AM.

Students say that using public transportation to get to the university, particularly after 10 in the morning, requires university students to pay for yet another transport means to get to the gates. Accordingly, students demand that transportation means may be made more accessible and that the number of buses be increased to meet the requirements of a large student body who by a considerable portion rely on university and public means of transportation.

On their part, Director of the transportation committee in Mafraq stated that buses cannot drive students up to the main gates due to a shortage of space that makes parking and unloading passengers difficult, insuring that a more fundamental solution is being reviewed.
