“Tkiyet Um Ali” Feeds 18,000 Jordanian Families, 400-450 People Daily

AMMAN —Al Ghad— The “Tkiyet Um Ali” charity foundation, according an investigative report conducted by “Al Ghad” published today, Tuesday, feeds around 400 to 450 people every day, at lunch time between 1 and 3 pm.

On the other hand, the foundation delivers month care packages to over 18,000 Jordanian families; around 100,000 individuals, comprising nearly 1.4 per cent of the total Jordanian population.

Families enduring food insecurity in Jordan are spread across 89 provinces and areas, 62 per cent of whom are children below the age of 18 years.

Categories for classifying food-insecure families include monthly incomes below JOD20, incapability of work and employment, and not owning assets.

The annual costs of the care packages reach around JOD14 million.
