“Representatives” Pass Fund Legislation and Retract Israeli Exclusion

AMMAN — The Lower (Representatives) House of Parliament passed the Jordan Investment Fund 2016 Legislation, during the evening session today, Sunday, presided by House Speaker, Eng Atef Tarawneh, attended by Prime Minister, Dr Nsoor, and members of the Cabinet, with a revote over the exclusion of Israel leading to the retraction of the proposed exclusion earlier.

The legislation obliges investing companies to employ 75 per cent of their labour domestically.

The Lower (Representatives) House of Parliament had previousely proposed excluding Israel from investing in the Jordan Investment Fund. The proposition by MP Rula Hroub was met with general approval, and by the support of MPs Assaf Shoubaki and Abdul Karim Dughmi.
