Reproducing Previous Models?

Pushing forward in the endeavour to —clearly— establish a new political party, that is to surge from the womb of the “Pigeons” faction of the Muslim Brotherhood, to include a crème de crème of the Brotherhood’s historic leaderships and technocratic youths; outlines a crystallizing scene, previously described as “the political flamboyance of the Muslim Brotherhood”, which is technically leading into a new era where they would have a different political role, or perhaps; none at all!

What is being said here is not a splintering, as some had put it; of the Brotherhood, but of the establishment of a new party that rivals the Islamic Action Front, while maintaining the brotherhood. This means, practically; restructuring the concept of the Brotherhood, their role, and mission, even its view of itself; from a comprehensive group engaged in all spheres of activity, to a mere missionary group, or maybe even further into a new spiritual school that benchmarks a literary, non-obligatory reference, in relation to parties and forces within the sphere of Jordan’s political scene.

 Is this new experiment simply a reproduction of previous attempts and groups that surged out of the Brotherhood’s womb but failed to form an independent populace, which led to their entrapment by State?

In my opinion, No; for several reasons.

This is not a splinter group, to begin with; which means the Brotherhood has been forced to realise the necessary distinction and separation between missionary and political roles, similar to the Tunisian model of the group. While they serve the same purpose of the Brotherhood, yet; it imposes following the Tunisian experiment.

Second, this new born organisation includes the Brotherhood’s wise historic leaderships, like Hamzeh Mansoor, Dr Abdullatif Arabyat, Abdul Hamid Qudah, Salem Falahat, Jamil Abu Baker, and Ahmad Kafawin, along with a select group of rational exceptional youths, like: Atef Joulani, Khalid Hasanein, Ghaith Maani, and Mohammad and Ghaith Qudah, basing legitimacy from within the organisation.

Third, the new entity is a fusion of different social backgrounds, which distance the group from imminent splintering crises, previously predominant; as they had before been unable to aggregate a vast base among youth, as well as their own proponents. Meantime, Brotherhood symbols involved in the new formation, do actually have a wide base, socially speaking; which provides, preliminarily, an important and suitable populace to carry out the new experiment, should they be able to move forward.

Fourth, the new experiment gives the Brotherhood project itself an exodus from the suffocating situation they’re in, on many levels. The Brotherhood fell into the “militarisation” trap in Egypt, being oblivious to the labyrinths of the political game, delivering a heave blow to the heart of their power, causing deterioration in trust between the Brotherhood’s branches around the Arab World. Fortunately, the Tunisian experiment came up with a framework that was much more distinct and independent, compared to the Egyptian experiment. Following that, the Brotherhood in Jordan fell in the area of outlawry and became illegal, implicitly; discombobulated with internal turmoil, falling short in terms of ability to build new political horizons in relation with the State.

Why and how come; to say that the new experiment could lead the Brotherhood out of its unprecedented historic hole?! Well, this new step transitions the Brotherhood into a missionary, spiritual discourse, leaving way for the formation of a new pragmatic political entity, unstained by being utilised by the State; anchoring the Brotherhood out of the draining internal crisis and pointless debate between the Brotherhood and the Party, the Missionary and the Political, and the Realistic and the oratorical; to preface for a heterogeneous open entity with new thought, taking the political oppositional current into the spheres of realist and rational discourses, aftermath the Brotherhood’s relationship with the State led to a dead end.

The matter should have already been decided on, and the statement on behalf of the follow up and execution committee, Khaled Hasanein, yesterday, denying the decision has been officially passed, is out of caution and patience for deliberation with the rest of the members, not a continuation of hesitation, previously predominant of the Brotherhood’s stances!
