The King Meets with IEC and Reviews Preparations for the Elections

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed during his meet today, Monday, with members of the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on the importance of concluding preparations for General Representative Elections, upcoming soon; and underscored the importance of integrity and transparency in building and reinforcing trust in the electoral process popularly.

The meeting was held at the Husayniya Palace, and was attended by Premier Dr Hani Mulqi, Chief of the Royal Court, and head of His Majesty’s Office, during which His Majesty underlined the vitality of cooperation between the IEC and other public devices, and that the success of the Commission’s objective would entail concentrated media and awareness campaigns, in order to remove ambiguity with the public on the details of the new law and process itself, as well as aggregate higher participation rates, particularly among women and youths.

President of the IEC, Dr Khaled Kalaldeh, had reviewed briefly the procedures concluded by the Commission so far since the Elections Bill was passed, including awareness campaigns, and evaluation reports on poll room readiness
