Imports Rise by 2.8%, National Exports Drop by 11.9%

AMMAN —Al Ghad— The Department of Statistics issued the monthly report on foreign trade in Jordan, indicating total exports over the first 4 months of the year 2016, have decreased by 9.7 per cent, compared to the same period in 2015, totalling at nearly JOD1.552 billion. National exports, on the other hand, amounting to JOD1.283 billion, has also decreased, comparatively, by 11.9 per cent.

Imports on the other hand, at JOD4.691 billion, increased by 2.8 per cent, compared to the same period in 2015.

Accordingly, the trade balance deficit —the gap between exports and imports— has increased by 10.3 per cent in 2016, so far; totally at JOD3.138 billion.
