AMMAN —Al Ghad— Official sources confirmed to “Al Ghad” that the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union may indeed affect the implementation of the London Donors Conference outcomes, and incur substantial mid and long term effects on the scale of aid and grants to Jordan.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation reassured that the Brexit will have no effect on Jordan, particularly in regards to the London Conference.

Accordingly, a source reaffirmed that the Rule of Origin and export arrangement with the EU is almost fully finalised with the EU Delegation to Jordan, and that while Britain’s exit may have an effect on the long term size of aid to Jordan and loans, withdrawal requires at least two years to conclude negotiations with the 27 remaining members of the Union, during which the Conference’s outcomes to provide an annual grant of USD700 million to Jordan for 3 years, totalling at USD2.1 billion, next to additional support for building schools and other facilities, will —for the most part at least— be implemented by then.
