RAMALLAH/GAZA — Israeli occupation forces early Tuesday arrested 16 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, as tanks shelled a number of military sites run by Hamas in Beit Lahia in the northern parts of the Gaza enclave.
The Palestinian Prisoner's Club said in a statement that heavy armoured Israeli troops stormed the West Bank cities of Nablus, Qalqilya, Bethlehem and Hebron and arrested the citizens.
Palestinian sources said that Israeli tanks fired a number of artillery shells at two Hamas posts in Gaza.
One of the two targets was a site belonging to Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas movement, while the other was a military site run by al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad.
More shells landed on two homes belonging to Palestinian families and on an empty area causing material damage, but no casualties were reported, the sources added.
