AMMAN — High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, Thursday, said that US President Donald Trump's decision to move his country's embassy to Jerusalem would have worrying repercussions and threatens to sink the region into even "darker and more challenging state than ever before".
In a statement to the media at the European Commission's headquarters, the Italian politician commended Jordan's pivotal role towards Jerusalem and its holy shrines, urging the international community to listen to His Majesty King Abdullah II as a voice of moderation and wisdom.
What is happening in Jerusalem is of concerning aspect to the entire region and beyond, she noted.
"I'm hosting Jordan's Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, as the Kingdom has a very special role regarding Jerusalem's holy places which fall under the custodianship of King Abdullah.
King Abdullah, she said , is a wise man who merits all of our support at this key moment.
"We all should be listening to King Abdullah carefully because all that we need now is wisdom", Mogherini stated.
