AMMAN —AlGhad— Authorities raided a number of houses in the South of Amman, Zarqa and Aqaba, leading to the arrest of eight drug dealers and the confiscation of firearms and quantities of narcotics.
In Amman, five were arrested in possession of weed and narcotic pills, as well as four firearms and live ammunition, according to the police statement.
In Zaraq and Aqaba, three were arrested in possession also of drugs and firearms, two of them brothers.
The fugitive arrested in Zarqa opened fire at the police, resisting arrest, but the situation was rapidly contained and controlled, the statement explained.
Quantities of weed and nearly two dozen thousand narcotic pills have been confiscated, as well as quantities of cocaine.
