IRBID —AlGhad— Riots broke out in Husun, in the Bani Obeid province of Irbid, a north Jordanian governorate, earlier today, Monday, when Greater Irbid Municipality personnel removed numerous street vendors from the marketplace.
Several rioters used Molotov-like canisters against Municipality employees before anti-riot police personnel arrived at the scene.
Police sources confirmed to AlGhad that the security situation is now under control, for the time being.
Municipality operations of the sort are usually carried out under police protection, the source confirmed.
This time, vendors and citizens resisted the clearing campaign with riots and fire.
