WWII Bomb Unearthed in London City Airport

LONDON — British authorities on Monday closed London City Airport as WWII bomb was found in the River Thames, London Police announced.

The bomb was discovered during scheduled works at the airport and that an operation was underway with the help of the Royal Navy to dismantle it, the police said, adding that streets were cordoned off and buildings in the vicinity were evacuated.

"The airport will be shut all day and all flights will be cancelled", said CEO of the airport, Robert Sinclair, adding that the airport was cooperating with the Met Police and Royal Navy and working to safely remove the device and resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
